Just before Christmas, we received an email from a customer about his Therapod chair. We found it very touching and with his permission, would like to share it with you.
I have had my Therapod chair for about 15 years. In that time it has never let me down, being so comfortable and cosy I have fallen asleep at my desk many times. My grandchildren have spun their little hearts out on it, my dogs have attempted to sit on it. Many family backsides have claimed it.
The chair was bought for me by Coventry University as I am disabled and has worn out several pairs of trousers over the years through faithful service. The back is still as comfy and cosy as it ever was, though the handle to raise and lower it has fallen out many times and been cursed and cussed repeatedly as I and/or my wife fiddle to reinsert it. The rear pad shows the accumulation of dust and detritus where I and others have leaned back into its comfort. Still I will not consign this chair, my faithful friend to the dump. My problem now is that the trousers have finally taken their toll and worn through the seat. Under my bottom I would simply lay a towel or other material but the wear is at the front of the seat. I have tried laying a piece of cloth there but it always moves as I do and invariably falls off. When that happens, and under service without a cloth, the front of the seat annoys the back of my thighs.
I am not trying to wheedle a new chair from you, I could never replace this chair, my children have tried many times to get me to do that over the past few years! I simply need to know if there is a company in the UK or Europe who can supply a new seat pad for my chair the only identifying number for which I can find is 031807.

We responded to Mr Cassidy’s email with information on his Therapod chair.
We informed him that the serial number tells us the chair is a SF5250 (an old model) sold through an office furniture dealer called D&S – now called DS Office and based in Huntingdon. The chair was manufactured in February 2001 by Status Seating Ltd in High Wycombe and upholstered in Camira Advantage Cobalt (Blue) fabric and originally sold with a warranty of 5 years.
We receive many positive reviews about our Therapod backcare system however Mr. Cassidy’s email stuck out. For more information on Therapod, please visit www.humanfactorseating.co.uk.
We would like to thank Mr Cassidy for sharing his thoughts with us. You’ll be happy to know we returned his chair, fully re-upholstered for him and his family to enjoy for many years to come.
